A day in our classroom is filled with laughter, learning, and a lot of love! I teach students who are in the third grade but more importantly than that, I teach students that are eager to learn!
My students are getting all kinds of experiences at school that they don't get at home.
The majority of my students come from homes that are in the generational poverty cycle.
One thing that they love about school is that they know that what they are learning now will help them hopefully break out of this cyclical pattern. The stability that our classroom environment provides them is something that they can carry on into their personal lives.
My Project
I am currently teaching non-fiction texts and informational writing in my 3rd grade classroom. How awesome would it be to be able to let my students become their own author and illustrator? We are working on writing their own books. How exciting would it be if I surprised them with our own camera studio to illustrate their own stories?!
By using our classroom camera, my students will become their own photographer and learn how to take pictures, edit them on their Chromebooks, and print them.
They would really understand the hard work and dedication of authors.
The lighting and printer will be extremely beneficial in my classroom. The students will be able to take their own photos, and illustrate their personality through important aspects of their day.
Learning the skills of illustration and editing at such a young age will help my students' futures and hopefully inspire them to continue exploring with their creativity.
