Mrs. Daniels from Cincinnati OH is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a quality digital SLR camera to assist us in creating a newsletter and maintaining our Schoology page to keep our parents informed.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As a Technology teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges in and out of the classroom. This is a school with 100% minority students and all of my students receive free lunch. We are located in the downtown Cincinnati area and my students are not exposed to many opportunities outside of the classroom.
Having access to this type of technology will afford my students the opportunity to see life through a different colored lens.
Our community and district would love to see the many projects and activities held at our school. Capturing the memories in and out of the classroom will help to instill a sense of pride back into our community. We need to increase parental involvement.
Our students are very creative and excited to showcase their works through a newsletter or on a continuous slide presentation throughout our TV monitoring system.
The digital camera would help us add the final piece to our media club. This camera would be a perfect fit to go along with our green screen and lighting accessories. With the addition of this camera we will continue to promote the visual arts and photography program here at HPS. More students will have an opportunities to use a DSLR camera in class. This camera will be shared between all of my classes. Students will learn how to properly use a professional DSLR camera and experiment with different photography techniques. Students will learn how to shoot portraits, landscapes, and other digital photography to use in their technology projects.
As we continue to increase technology access and artistic abilities, we see better performance and results in the classroom. The students are more engaged and interested in using new technology. My students feel professional and see the difference in quality between their cell phone cameras and DSLR camera. Selfies turn into professional portraits. Students brag about their artwork and want to show it off. Students feel proud and want to continue to learn and create.
