Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students want to succeed in school and in life. As a teacher in a high-poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. Help me bridge the gap.
My students come from a low, socioeconomic status, the inner-city, and have special needs.
I need to do all I can during school hours to help these students progress to well-developed, smart young men and women. To effectively teach students in a wide range of levels, I need many resources.
The majority of the students at the school come from low socioeconomic households. Students and parents do not have the financial means to provide essentials. Since Hurricanes Irma and Maria, things have become even tighter for parents. Help me bring in the necessary materials to help my students succeed in school.
My Project
My fellow teachers and I were inspired by the project Brought to You By: Project Based Broadcasting. We thought it was an innovative way of having students learn new concepts while doing something they would enjoy.
My students are labeled special needs, but really they just need someone to understand them and help them reach their full potential.
Using this interactive and hands on approach to teach Science is a great way for my students to grasp the lesson. My students will research a concept being taught like Earth’s layers and create either a podcast or video on it. They will develop a script and use the stapler to staple papers together. The cameras, camera accessories, lighting kit, and green screen will be used to record their vision on video. Plus, the microphone will be used to record podcasts where they discuss and debate a topic. We will collaborate with the other classes to make videos and podcasts from different subjects and inturn make them available for the whole school to see and hear. This project will help teach our students how to collaborate and create something they are proud off. Our students will be able to see that with hard work you can achieve many things.
