My students are optimistic and hopeful. They are survivors of the Camp Fire who are currently finishing their 8th grade year of school in Magalia, CA.
These 8th grade students are demonstrating resilience in every way imaginable.
Every day is difficult, and nothing is easy in our current situation. These students have 3 months left before their 8th grade promotion to high school. At such an important time in their lives, I want to give them the best experience possible.
This DSLR camera and lens will allow my students to learn photography and video techniques in an elective class. Students will focus on creating visual documentation of their experience at school after following the Camp Fire that devastated our community.
Students will utilize photography and video to document their experiences at school, and express themselves in a creative way.
I hope that this creative outlet will help them realize how important every moment is at this time. Additionally, they will be able to look back at amazing photos and videos many years down the road and reflect on their student life after the Camp Fire.
