My classroom consists of 22 enthusiastic learners. My students are energetic, curious, and eager kindergarteners. I am always looking for ways to keep them actively engaged in meaningful learning. Though I have to do my part to provide these diverse learners with great instruction I want to provide them with materials that will help them soar.
Our K-8 large, urban school services high poverty students from diverse backgrounds.
Our students are faced with many hardships, and school is the place where they are fed, loved, protected, and made to feel safe. My students learn in many different ways. Most of them, including special needs students and English language learners, depend on visuals to understand what they are being taught. Despite hardships, they work hard daily to achieve success in all subject areas.
My Project
With this manipulative my students will have ELA and Math hands-on materials. They will be moving their minds beyond books and stories. The electronic writing doodle pads are a terrific way to promote classroom engagement during literacy and math in an effective, interactive and fun way.
My students will be using these tools for a variety of activities.
One of the activities includes using the writing pads during whole group. For example, I call out a surprise letter and they have to write it down or they write out the word I am sounding out. We will not only save paper and marker ink, but engage and interact in whole group, small group and team work. Students will be able to manipulate all concepts with the tip of their fingers as they grasp new understandings and transform their thoughts.
By donating to this project you are helping my students become even more engaged and stay motivated in every content lesson, every single day!
