My students need a light table and manipulatives to help their creativity flow! A light table tray and sensory beads will also provide my students with a unique sensory play experience!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have many struggles, inside the classroom and out. The majority of my students come from low socioeconomic status households and many students have experienced quite a bit of trauma even before entering Kindergarten.
Many of them come in tired, hungry, emotional, and unable to focus.
They deserve to have a safe, student-focused classroom where they are encouraged to learn at a developmentally appropriate level and allow their creativity to shine! They also need to be able to develop social and emotional skills to help them become successful in the classroom and in society.
My Project
I have requested a light table with manipulatives and sensory beads for my Kindergarteners. This light table will give my students the opportunity to learn in a variety of ways. The light table and manipulatives will also help those students who may have difficulty with focusing or who could benefit from sensory play.
Young students need to be engaged in play and exploration while learning important skills to be successful in school.
A light table can provide my students with opportunities to enhance skills such as counting, identifying numerals, patterning, spatial reasoning, creating shapes and describing their attributes, adding, subtracting, letter knowledge, phonemic awareness, and can allow for multi-sensory instruction to take place.
