This is my third year teaching Pre-K in a NYC public school. I have 13 students this year! I have 8 boys and 5 girls. I hope that each of them will arrive eager to learn and so excited to begin their school career. Pre-K is the beginning and I believe it is never too early to teach children how to be explorers, discoverers, and creators. It is through play that children learn best. When a student is engaged they learn and grow. I would really appreciate your support in getting these items and helping to make my students’ first school year, one to remember. I want to continue to instill a love of learning, imaginative play, and risk-taking that will last each of them a lifetime!
My Project
In Pre-K learning is student directed. As the teacher, I guide learning based on student interest. I have a light table and some manipulatives. To continue engagement, I need a variety of supplies. The light up dominoes will help my students not only take turns, but also with their counting skills. The letter tiles will help my students spell their names and help them to identify and become more familiar with the alphabet. My more advanced students will be able to spell simple words. The translucent insects will be perfect for the plant unit. We can sort, count and even do patterns. Learning should be fun and with these items it will be!
