I teach an amazing group of students in a Title I school in a rural community in Virginia. My students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds and bring with them a variety of knowledge bases. Each day they come with a ton of energy and excitement as well as a ton of questions. As a teacher, I am always looking for creative ways to present concepts and challenge them to think outside the box. My goal is to allow each child to be who they are, while encouraging them to become better each day!
My Project
All of my students come to school excited to learn and experience the world in new ways. I am always striving to find new ways in which to enhance their educational experience.
A light table would provide my students with a different and exciting way to experience ideas, practice educational concepts, and increase social and emotional skills.
Light tables provide students with an engaging way to experience the world around them and explore through the use of their five senses. As a result, students are more engaged in their play and learning and therefore will begin to increase the amount of time the spend on a task.
In addition, there are many educational opportunities that a light table provides. For example, students can count, construct and match lettres, create patterns, design with blocks, observe natural objects as well a sort those.
