My students need flashlights and prisms to explore how light works! The flashlights have to be non-LED and strong enough to show how white light breaks apart into all the different colors.
My students are avid learners! They love hands on projects and trying out new learning strategies in class. I have a very mixed classroom, from gifted learners to students reading below a third grade level.
I want to light up my students with interest this year, but to do that, I need some help!
We need prisms and flashlights to make sure we can show them how white light splits and how colors are made.
This project will provide materials for all three sixth grade classrooms and allow us to do multiple explorations in light for our kids who really need this hands on experience to really learn the material.
My Project
Our students need to be able to explain how white light is made up of all colors. We need these materials to do a lab to help them explore this. This project will help support all the sixth graders at my school. We wanted to have enough prisms and flashlights so that each kid would get to have a hands-on experience watching the light split into all the different colors. They will also use the flashlights with prisms of different shapes to show how the light refracts when it passes through different materials. We will also use the flashlights to teach absorption with tissue paper.
