Help me give my students a Space-Saver Color-Changing Light Table with Manipulatives and Nature Slides to provide them with a classroom space to explore color and light while building math, language and science skills at the same time!
My 23 amazing students attend Kindergarten in MN at an elementary school nestled inside their neighborhoods. They bring with them a passion for understanding and a desire to know more! They have a variety of cultural backgrounds and life experiences which makes us a unique bunch!
Our Kindergarten world can be noisy and messy at times, but we are busy learning, growing and having fun!
We bring to the table (or carpet or floor) a variety of abilities, energy levels and social-emotional skills. We are focused on being mindful learners and becoming self-aware of what our bodies need to do our best in school. I am proud to provide my students with an learning environment in which they can explore and discover what they need to succeed.
My Project
Sensory play can calm some children, focus others and engage anyone who wants to explore (including adults)! One of my most sought after activities in my classroom is our sensory tray. We have translucent colorful play materials like beads, rings and balls that invite kids to explore unique textures. These sensory materials are awesome hands-on tools for children to learn about their world and their senses.
We are ready to take our sensory play to the next level by adding a Space-Saver Color-Changing Light Table and additional materials that encourage play skills, language development and body sense awareness!
With your donation to our project, my students will have a designated space designed to enhance our existing sensory materials while adding the 8 tubs included in the Light Table Manipulative Center. These tubs are filled with translucent letters, numbers, pattern blocks, color chips and more. They are the perfect tools for practicing everything from counting to creating color combinations. The Nature Up Close! Light Table Slides will help students develop skills in making observations, comparing and contrasting attributes, and identifying characteristics of plants and animals through full-color slides of real science specimens.
I have seen how giving students sensory play opportunities can excite children and inspire social and emotional growth. These additional materials will give my students countless educational experiences in a "bright" space on the path to an even brighter future!
