Our school is a charter school, which means we are governed by an independent school board and do a lottery for student acceptance. Our school receives minimal funding from the government which means we have to get a lot for our students via grants and fundraising. My goal is to teach my students a love of learning and to defy the odds that have been set before them. I work in a classroom with 20 energetic and fun students who love to explore and learn.
Students learn best when the activities are fun, hands-on, and meaningful.
We work to make real-world connections they can use outside of the classroom environment. My goal is to expose my kids to as many new ideas, facts, and stories as possible.
My Project
Education is changing each day to keep up with the ever changing needs of society. School instruction and learning is becoming heavily reliant on technology. My students need 6 Kindle Fire Kids Editions to help guide our instruction and practice each day.
Learning in the 21st century should look like what students will experience in the ever changing work place.
We are preparing our kids for the world beyond the classroom. Each day we use technology to enhance our daily classroom instruction. We use a variety of apps and websites each day in our classrooms. Our students use apps for reading and math practice.
Students love the chance to learn "hands-on" through technology. They are able to experience parts of the world otherwise out of their reach. The students will get to practice reading using authentic text at their independent reading level. They will also get to play math learning activities and use online resources to explore the world around them.
