My Students

My school is located in a small and somewhat isolated community in Maine. We are a Title I school with a strong focus on reading and math. Over 60% of our students receive free lunch.

The teachers at our school truly love and care about each student who comes through our doors, and we are proud of the kind, caring and supportive climate we cultivate with our kids.

After spending almost every day with our students, a class becomes more like a family.

My Project

I am planning a unit for the new year which will incorporate "The Lightening Thief" and Greek Mythology for my 7th and 8th grade students. I have searched the school and only come up with 3 copies of this text! My students will benefit from this class set of texts so they don't have to share, and can read at their own pace.

"The Lightening Thief" is a wildly popular book, and I strive to incorporate new, exciting literature in my classes.

My ultimate end goal is to cultivate a love or reading in my students, and reading awesome books is the best way to do this.
