Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a PK-8 Public School in a small town in NJ. Our school district serves students of mixed socioeconomic status with over 50% receiving Free and Reduced lunch. We also serve English Language Learners, some of whom are new to the country.
Many of our students spend the entire summer without access to a single book!
Our town does not have a public library! By donating here, you'll provide access to work space, flexible seating and an interactive setting for students to read, discuss and create!
My Project
Our students need work space to to Plan, Do and Review their research! With inquiry based units of study, students are able to ask meaningful questions and seek answers using information literacy skills. Students need space to plan, research and work on their projects!
A mobile desk and wobble chair will provide opportunities for students to work collaboratively or independently, depending on the task.
The students need a better work space to organize their projects and this mobile desk can provide that space.
My hope is to create a Lightbulb Lab (just like in Kevin Henkes' "Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse" where students can work together or independently to plan, research and create projects that are inspired by meaningful questions and interesting approaches to finding solutions!
