Mrs. Hamooz from Brooklyn NY is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a light tablet and light manipulatives in the classroom because they are a fabulous learning tool and enhance sensory play opportunities.

I work in a Title l school where 100 percent of the children receive free breakfast and lunch. The children reside in middle to lower class families. My children come from homes where many families speak languages other than English. Many of the children in my class go to before and after care. Some are in daycare at six in the morning and remain there until seven in the evening. My children look for a home away from home when they enter my room.
Many of my children come from single-parent homes.
They enter my classroom looking for love and attention. These children become my own during our school day. I offer them a place of comfort, security, nurturing, creativity and learning. The look on their faces as they learn letters and sounds, write their names or paint beautiful pictures of the world as they see it is just amazing!
Light tablets and manipulatives are an excellent source of visual sensory input. Children are drawn to the glow of the tablet and are calmed by the visual stimulation. There is so much to do on the light tablet. It can be used for open ended play to arts and crafts to teaching educational concepts.
A light tablet is a magical material!
It can make things glow, make shadows and change the way things look. My students will love to gather around it while wondering, discovering and simply asking meaningful questions that arise from their explorations. So, please light us up!
