My students need EXPO dry erase markers and highlighters for increased engagement during small group work, a surplus of quality pencils (and a sharpener) for self-sufficiency, and mini flashlights for motivation and fun during reading!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The student population I serve is largely diverse. Over 90% of the students receive free or reduced lunch, many students are bilingual, and some are just learning English. No matter the background of the student, I want to provide them all with the opportunity to be successful at school.
My students come from all walks of life, each with their own story, perspectives, experiences, and learning styles.
I love that every day is a new adventure and my students walk into the classroom ready to ignite their imaginations, challenge themselves-yet persevere, and exhibit a growth mindset. I learn from my students every day and I am fortunate to have the chance to make a difference in their lives.
My Project
This project will provide my students with some of the basic essentials they will use on a daily basis. Having a large amount of quality pencils and an easy-to-use sharpener will eliminate wasted time from broken or dull pencils, and allow students to be self-sufficient while focusing on their work. The fine point dry erase markers will assist students in building their fine motor skills completing activities such as graphic organizers, task cards, or reflections during small group time and independent practice while allowing us to save paper without relinquishing necessary activities. Highlighters will give students the opportunity to dive deeper in a text and find evidence to support their thoughts and answers.
Learning should be fun, and the resources in this project will support that belief so students remain excited about school!
The mini-flashlights will bring independent reading to a whole new level. I can already see my classroom aglow while smiling faces are immersed in an endless variety of books. Students have to be in school to enjoy the resources from this project, so the Clorox wipes will help us keep our classroom and shared materials clean and sanitary, therefore helping students stay healthy, too.
