My students need a center that will allow them to explore while simultaneously practicing skills in math, science, and reading. The light up table will literally light up the imaginations of my students as they learn.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are first time school learners who are extremely active, motivated, excited, and may I say adorable. A majority of my students come to my class in July knowing little or no English. A majority of my students are Latino with 3 students who were born in Bangladesh. All of my students come from families whose income falls within the poverty level. Many of my children live with multiple families in small apartments where space is at a premium.
It has been an honor and a pleasure to have taught in my school since its inception.
The school offers free breakfast and lunch to all of our pre K to 5th grade students and often these are the only meals they eat in a day. The students in my class are eager to learn through motivating higher level activities. Unfortunately, I have only an hour of teacher assistant time twice a week for my active and needy four year olds and keeping everyone on task and learning can often be a challenge.
The more stimulating, hands-on manipulatives and centers I can rotate in my classroom, the more time I can devote to each student's individual needs.
My Project
My little learners are so filled with energy and excitement and it is always challenging to supply them with learning centers that will engage them in an activity for longer than 5 minutes without the need of adult intervention. This light up table will allow 4 to 6 children to explore the wonders of light while learning concepts in math, reading, and science. The children will have ample manpulatives to motivate them to learn such concepts as letter recognition, shape recognition, number identification, writing practice and cooperative learning activities while building and creating. This center will enhance learning every day.
