Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have thirty-six culturally diverse students. We are part of a Title I School where everyone gets free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students come from poverty stricken homes and need more than an education from me. They need love, acceptance, and support, as well.
This group is extra special because they are my first group in a collaborative classroom.
It is an amazing opportunity that I am so thankful to share with these kids and my new co-teacher.
My Project
I never want to give my students boring worksheets. I always try to find a way to make learning more exciting and fun for my students. This light table will be the perfect addition to our storytelling, sensory, math, and reading centers.
We could use this table with our sensory beads or kinetic sand to draw pictures to retell stories we read in class.
They could illustrate stories from their writing journals. This is a simple way to make art using sand and paint brushes or just the child's finger. It is such a fun and exciting way for them to express themselves. We could also use the letters to practice spelling our names or sight words.
The possibilities are endless with this exciting addition to our classroom.
