Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is a multi-age, multicultural class of gifted and talented students who love STEAM! From a Title I community school with over 60% free and reduced lunch, my students come from apartments, trailers, duplexes, and single family homes. They embrace their differences and come together for some amazing, boundary free learning.
We are always searching for avenues to challenge our different ways of thinking.
My students love to do hands-on projects that allow them to problem solve projects in science, engineering, and math using technology, and art as well as their group problem solving and creativity to complete their tasks.
My Project
By using Snap Circuits PRO SC-500 and Elenco SCL-175B Snap Circuits Lights Electronics Discovery Kit, my students will learn how circuits work and discover how to create a complete circuit to light up a bulb. The students will then use the KLUTZ Circuit Clay to create a working light up craft of their own!
Having a STEAM corner in our classroom will give my students a "workshop" feel to their tasks, allowing them to learn through natural curiosity, trial and error, and team work in a safe environment.
The storage cart will allow my students to keep the STEAM materials orderly so that they can easily find the requested craft sticks, wooden dowel rods, motors, and other building pieces as needed in order to build projects like balloon racers.These items will keep my students engaged in learning through Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math all year long.
