My Students

My students are three to five-year-olds from Ferndale, MI. Our classroom follows the Reggio Emilia approach that views young children as individuals that are curious about their world and have the potential to learn from all that surrounds them. The children are inquisitive and love exploring their surroundings.

My Project

The bright colors shining through the translucent materials keep the children engaged and learning at the light table. By providing them with new materials to use, we can bring many different learning concepts to the table. The letter and numbers allow for alphabetic knowledge, phonological awareness. The numbers allow for number identification as well as counting. The math trays allow for the buttons and gems to be used for patterning, sorting, and classifying which are all important math concepts in preschool. The sensory bin allows for a fun new way to explore sensory materials.
