Help me give my students a behavior management system that uses color signals instead of voices or noises.

I am a newly appointed STEM teacher with 10+ years of experience as an early childhood general education teacher. I teach in a high needs, Title I school. Our school is new, sixth year in, replacing a school that has phased out. WE HAVE TO STAND OUT!
My students are mostly from shelters or foster homes in the area, which are all riddled with gang violence, drugs and guns.
This creates a very transient population for our school and a hardship on our dedicated staff. Our children have seen and experienced more in their short little lives than most of us could dream of in our worst nightmares.
Despite this, I want to inspire them to be better and do better. The ability to open their eyes and show them that there is more out there in the world is my goal for this school year! "A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops." ~Henry Adams
This year I am in my first year as a "specials" teacher. I am doing both science and technology. I find that when my students are in my science room, they have a hard time focusing and quieting down for teacher instructions. When we are in the technology room, they are more engaged.
Using colors to help the students know their expected noise level throughout each moment of the period will be a motivational way to get them engaged.
I am hoping that these remote controlled color changing puck lights will bring a new level of effective classroom management to my science lab classroom.
