This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I'm the proud teacher of a wonderful group of 10 students who all have special needs. My preschool program is located within a public Title I school. My students come from a variety of socioeconomic statuses. Regardless of life's hardships, they do not allow this to hold them back to ensure their child is learning and giving their best at school each day.
My amazing group of exceptional preschool students are loving and enjoy hands-on and engaging activities.
They are a vibrant and excited group of 3, 4 and 5 year olds who arrive at school ready for a day of learning. Many of my students receive a variety of services from speech, occupational therapy, and behavior therapy. In our classroom, it's my goal to provide an enriching learning environment that will help all of my students meet their developmental milestones so they will have a successful school year.

My Project
Learning on a light up table makes basic tasks much more engaging and fun. The table will engage and bring new dimensions to a repetitive task and also bring tracing and writing to life on a reusable platform. The light table will engage my students with a soothing light source where we can explore shapes, numbers, tracing, writing and more. My students often need a lot of support and hand over hand to help them with writing their names. This table will help them strengthen their fine motor skills to grow into stronger writers.
With the light table panel, I will be able to transform tasks to exploratory hand-on activities.
I have several students who have difficulty with sensory integration and this will encourage my reluctant and hesitant students to open up and try new things! My goal is to always make learning fun, engaging and interactive for my youngest learners! This light table will allow me to transform an ordinary activity and make it extraordinary for my amazing students! Who wants to play with dull letters, numbers and shapes over and over each day? Not my students! This table will truly put a bright light into my students lives and learning each day!
