Light Up a Pre-K Child's Mind

My students need a light table and light table manipulatives for hands on, active, open-ended learning.

My Students

My class of 22 Pre-K students are active and eager to learn. They are a diverse group of learners who thrive when they can move and manipulate materials to develop their motor skills, social skills, and academic skills.

Play that involves self-selected activities is an essential part of a Pre-K classroom.

We are a Title 1 school district in rural Oklahoma. We are in a military community and over 53% of the students in our district receive free and reduced lunches.

My Project

"The most engaging preschool experiences rarely come home in a backpack." (Teach Preschool) A light table for my classroom would allow my learners to have an active, engaging, and open-ended experience while they are building, creating, and experiencing with light.

Pre-K students are developing fine motor skills, cognitive skills, confidence skills, cooperation skills, verbal and non verbal skills as they play.

The pegs and peg boards will allow for creative exploration and teamwork as they build with them. The light table and manipulatives will also be beneficial to students with disabilities. This project will allow for my students and future students to play and discover for years to come.
