Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We're a very active Kindergarten. Students are always on the move to centers and guided reading or math groups to learn the standards we are trying to cover and keep them engaged. We love to use technology in centers and guided groups, as well as in our thematic units.
I have a classroom with students ranging from Kindergarten in abilities below grade level with special needs to above.
We have a wide range of abilities which need major differentiation. The wonderful thing about my class is that students can work at their own ability level. I do not like to limit my students to what is taught at their grade level. On the other hand, I have students who are working at a slower pace. We are working on being good leaders in our community by learning manners and treating others with kindness.
My Project
We are requesting a light table and manipulative center to enhance their literacy and math stations in the classroom. I am looking for new ways to engage my students in creative ways. This type of center is great for students with special needs. I am hoping to get them a light table and manipulative materials that they can use to explore letters, sounds, and numbers in a colorful way.
The light table will engage and inspire my students as they problem solve and learn to manipulate the tiles and writing on the light.
This will be an excellent tool that my students will look forward to using daily in their literacy and math stations. The uses for this table are endless and carry across the curriculum. I can imagine them working on letter formation, letter sounds, number sense, and STEM activities. I am eager to see all the possible uses this table can have for my class.
