Our preschool program provides a developmentally appropriate program in a safe and nurturing environment, which promotes social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. The students that attend our program are from low income families and are often considered "at risk". Despite these "at risk" factors, our students come into our classroom everyday eager and excited to use the various items in our classroom while creating new experiences with their friends.
We strive to provide our students with opportunities and experiences that they would normally not get to experience outside of the classroom.
Providing them with these opportunities gives them chances to explore, ask questions, manipulate, and experience events that enrich their lives not only in that moment but hopefully for a lifetime.
My Project
A light table in a preschool setting is a fun and exciting way to enhance writing, science, math and literacy skills. Children love being able to explore these concepts in a way that they would not normally have an opportunity to do so in.
The soft glow of a light table also seems to help those students that may need opportunities to participate in independent work in a soothing environment.
The manipulatives I have chose will also allow for independent, peer, or group exploration and learning.
The possibilities for playing and learning with a light table are endless! I am looking forward to providing many wonderful experiences for my young learners!
