Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I high school in a priority district. All of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My classroom is a mixed grade-level, as well as a mixed academic-level classroom.
Therefore, my class includes English Language Learners, special education students, a large range of academic abilities, and many students who come from a struggling economic environment. These struggles have led to an increase in failing classes and students not attending school. And often when these students do attend, they are extremely disengaged.
Our students, like all students, deserve learning opportunities and access to information to help them become successful, contributing members of society. Our students are full of passion, energy, and excitement. They take pride in their successes, especially when overcoming obstacles. They are always very excited to try new technology, but they have extremely limited means to do so since most live around the poverty line. I take pride and joy in the challenge of finding ways to meet their personal needs to help them achieve.
My Project
Please help me give my students a ShowMaven 10ft (Century) Light Stand. This boom/light stand will be able to hold various types of monolights, reflectors, and Backdrops for our student Photography Studio.
When student use this stand they will be able to set up a portable studio in various places within the photography classroom.
This item makes our lessons portable. This is desperately needed to social distancing classroom producers that we are currently following to keep students and staff safe. The photography classroom currently lacks equipment that allows this to happen.
