My students need a Kindle Fire in order to move into the technology age. This will allow my students another mode of learning.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
Do you remember the first time you read a book on your own? I bet it was a moment of excitement and satisfaction. You used strategies and tools to figure out words on your own. How awesome to take on the responsibility of your own learning. This most likely lit your learning on fire!
My students are the most amazing mix of first graders.
They are diverse in ethnicity and socioeconomic status. Though my school does not qualify for Title 1 status, we are very close. They are fascinated by NEW technology and the latest gadgets. Books on tape do not cut it any longer!
I can take a student who hates reading and hand him my iPod with a book loaded and all of a sudden...his eyes light up and I have lit his learning on fire. I want to be able to take reading to new levels of interest with my students. Showing them that reading does not just take place in books. There are so many modes available to us today, I want them to be ready for all of them.
Having a Kindle Fire will benefit my students in more ways then one.
They will each have the opportunity to read and be read to. They will be able to take home 100s of books each night in one tiny backpack. They will have the world at their fingertips.
