Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I would describe our students at our school as renaissance learners who have academic and creative abilities that are comparable to the "renaissance man" Leonardo da Vinci. I have often commented about how our students are not just good at one subject, but many. It is not uncommon in our school to have students who excel in both academics and the arts.
Since we recently added our Odyssey enrichment program, students have enjoyed even more opportunities to explore their creativity!
Making art helps to teach tolerance, builds self-esteem and develops critical thinking skills and creativity valued in today's workplace. Several of our students have been publicly recognized for their talents in both state and national art competitions such as the Oklahoma Student Art Exhibition at the Oklahoma State Fair and the Scholastic Art and Writing Contest.
My Project
We need portable light tables for students in my art class.
Many of my art students create rough sketches which are then refined into more finished drawings.
Students also use light tables to trace their rough photos and logos for use in graphic design. These portable light boxes give students the ability to trace their art without holding up to a window.
We have one light table in my class, where students are required to take turns. This can be time consuming. We are wanting a class set of these light boxes so they could be used by several students at once.
