My Students

Dr. Seuss said, "It's better to know how to learn than to know." Educators have an awesome responsibility to instill a love of learning.

Each day my room is filled with twenty-one Pre-K students that come to school eager to learn and explore this great big world.

They are a vibrant community of learners. They love to sing and dance. They love to color and count. They are illustrators and authors.

Our school is located in a small town in rural Oklahoma. We are a Title I school with just under 40% of our students qualifying for free and reduced lunches.

My Project

As an early childhood educator, I am always looking for more ways to incorporate our learning goals in concrete ways. Being able to reach students' needs through different modalities is important. A light table, along with the accessories requested, definitely fit the bill!

Children are naturally drawn to light.

A light table will accentuate some of the core concepts that I teach and will enhance my children's learning. My children will have the opportunity to explore letters, numbers and shapes with the manipulative center items.

The use of a light table center opens a window of opportunity for learning curriculum. Science, math, literacy, has never been brighter!
