Help me give my students a warm environment by creating an inviting atmosphere through the use of lighting.

I teach kindergarten with a variety of students from diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. Students will be navigating this new school environment due to new rules and regulations that coincide with the CDC guidelines.
Students receive instruction throughout the day in many areas, such as language arts/reading, social studies, science, math, and phonics instruction.
The majority of their instruction time will contain students at their tables due to the threat of COVID. Students will not be able to share supplies as done in the past.
Many of my students come from a variety of learning styles and academic challenges. Some of these students are learning English as their second language. Some students are on a tier system for guided instruction to help scaffold learning. In addition, all of my students have different learning styles, consisting of auditory, visual, or kinesthetic preferences.
It can be hard for kids to control their emotions or frustrations throughout the day, and we teach them that breathing and being mindful can help them cope. Telling a student to “get over it” is never going to be the answer. So when you can give them an outlet to calm down, it can make a huge difference.
Now combine this with the tool of better lighting, and you can really see a difference.
Lighting goes beyond mood, though. Classrooms need good lighting in order to facilitate learning. From a practical standpoint, there needs to be enough of and the right kind of light to perform the functions of a school. Finally, lighting has been shown to improve morale and increase productivity in the workplace.
Lighting in schools has a big influence on students’ health and mood. For students and teachers, it is essential that lighting meet their needs. To make lighting better, new school construction should consider LED lighting and using smart lighting systems with level controls and switches. Even educational facility lighting retrofits may benefit from upgrading their lighting design and systems.
