Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a wonderful group of energetic transitional kindergartners who are full of life. They come from different backgrounds in a Title I school located in southern California. The diversity in our class brings us closer together, providing us with the opportunity to teach and learn from one another.
My students are active explorers who enjoy hands-on experiences through art and play.
I want to inspire my students to be critical thinkers and active leaders all while tapping into their creativity. They are sweet, curious individuals who love to explore the endless possibilities of learning. My students are like little sponges coming in each day ready to grow and understand even more about their world!
My Project
I strongly believe student-driven exploration and play leads to the most meaningful learning. A light table invites children to actively engage in learning through play.
The light table is a great way to help integrate science and art into the classroom!
My students will be able to explore color and light in our world as part of our exploration centers throughout the day. Using a light table allows students to discover mixing colors, lights, shadows, creating shapes, and even x-rays! By using different sensory materials, students will be able to use their imagination and further develop their oral language and critical thinking skills while they socialize with their peers. The paintbrushes and craft trays will be used to hold various art materials that they can use to paint their creations from the light table and with various art centers. My students LOVE to create art all day, every day!
