Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are growing up in the city of Camden. Per capita, this city has been rated in the top five most dangerous cities in the past fifteen years. Drugs, poverty, and gun violence has wreaked havoc on this once thriving city and my students are living in the midst of this chaos. They are constantly given the message that they are not good enough for state-of-the-art technology, top line resources, and comfortable classrooms. The lack of resources affects the students every day.
My students need new lighting equipment for their first musical production in a decade.
This gear will make an incredible impact on our shows this year and in the future!
My Project
Our school has not done a musical production in over a decade. The theater we have is grossly ill-equipped. The lighting system we have got stolen or sold by the district. As a result, we are going into our first production with just an archaic spotlight light and fluorescent ceiling lights.
We need new, state-of-the-art lighting equipment to make our cast shine!
These equipment pieces will provide a technical excellence the our productions and blow away our audiences. It will also give our kids greater confidence in their own performance. They will shine on the stage with all of these added pieces to our production.
