I love working with this class because of their willingness to MAKE MISTAKES!
We all make mistakes, but we can all learn from our mistakes.
We have a large number of students in our classroom filled with abilities from Learning Support to Gifted.
We are passionate about learning in our classroom because most of us are able to read and now we want to take charge of our own learning!
In our school, we have a wide range of socioeconomic status. Some students are able to take family trips, have access to their own technology, and afford to buy lunch each day. Other students are working on taking care of their own siblings at home, cooking dinner, and applying for our rapidly increasing free/reduced lunch program.
One thing they all have in common is a passion for wanting to learn more. They want to be able to take charge of their own learning and problem solve until they come up with a solution!
My Project
Having iPads in the classroom will allow students to have access to technology that is familiar to them. We can use them across the curriculum in different ways.
For Writing, we can have them use Google Classroom to complete writing assignments and edit their work.
For Math, we can use apps and programs like XtraMath, MobyMax, or Kahn Academy to practice necessary skills tailored to student needs. For Science, we can record our STEAM activities and create an iMovie to present our projects.
The iPads will allow the students to take charge of their own learning and become more independent.
