There are 4 classrooms that I work with on a daily basis. The classes I work with are self contained, multi-needs rooms with varying disabilities such as Developmental Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, Downs Syndrome, Behavior and Emotional Disorders, Communication Disorders, etc. in a self contained Special Education Building. Our school is in a low-income, poverty-stricken area where funding is not always available.
They require hands-on experiences in order to learn new skills.
Each day my students are learning a variety of subjects such as: math, language, reading, writing, social studies, and science. While learning this core curriculum, my students are needing life, hygiene, social, and behavioral skills. Please consider donating to the lives of these special learners.
We currently have a washer to teach our students how to wash their clothes. Now we need a dryer so they can learn the skill of using a dryer. This will allow the students to learn some independent skills of being able to do their own laundry. This is a skill that is difficult for my students but getting this dryer will allow them the opportunity to be able to learn some independent like skills. My students need to have hands on experiences to learn new skills. With getting a dryer to go along with the washer we have will give them the opportunity to learn first hand.
