My Students
My students are enthusiastic to have opportunities for purposeful learning. They are caring, kind, happy, curious, great helpers and eager to learn. I am grateful to have such amazing students.
My goal is to provide the best possible education to my academically diverse students by providing engaging resources that will motivate and aid them in their quest for achievement. My students come from many different schools and school systems. We are a fairly new school. My students are ethnically diverse and come from various economic backgrounds.
My Project
Books and stories have always been a fantastic method to teach lessons and morals. In the same sense, they can be used to teach essential skills necessary in today's world.
Research shows that Social Emotional Learning not only improves achievement by an average of eleven percent, but it also increases pro-social behaviors (such as kindness, sharing and empathy), improves student attitudes toward school and reduces depression and stress among students (Durlak et al., 2011). The five key skills are: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making.
These picture books will support social emotional learning through relatable experiences and can help kids think deeply about feelings and social issues. They provide a foundation for class discussions and activities.
The books will be used by five classes of twenty-six students each.
