Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This class is called Skills for Life with the intention to teach my students the basic skills to live a successful, independent life through the use of ABA strategies. Skills for Life is a self-contained classroom with students with disabilities such as Autism or Intellectual Disabled. This does not mean my students aren't able to learn, just the opposite. They learn through hands-on, repetitive skills training!

The Skills for Life students learn everything from basic academics, communication, daily living skills, life skills, and social skills.

The students spend a large portion of our school learning different skills to make them be able to navigate their day at home, school, or in the community. They participate in building jobs such as delivering supplies and mail sorting, as well as learn life skills such a laundry, making their bed, cleaning.

My Project

The students in the Skills for Life classroom spend part of their school learning job skills. My students learn basic jobs skills to increase their independence and to hold a job in the future.

The materials from this project will be used to teach office specific job tasks.

The copy stand will teach the students to copy and type documents. The hanging file bins will be used to teach filing, sorting, and how to be responsible for their learning materials. They will use the desk organization system and paper trays to organized office supplies and to store materials appropriately to be able to access them easier.
