My students will be very excited to have new books to read during reading class!
My students are in the 5th and 6th grade intensive Life Skills program.
My students are very motivated to learn each day! They are loving, caring, unique, and deserve to have an excellent educational experience. Each student needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.
My Project
I am requesting three different things for my classroom. I have requested guided level reading books. These books will be used by the entire class of six students for reading class. These books will help students achieve success and meet their goals for Alternate Assessment and further develop their reading skills. I have also requested a bean bag chair and a set of sensory bouncy balls for the classroom. My students need frequent exercise and sensory breaks throughout the day. Currently, my students do not have enough resources in the classroom to fulfill their sensory needs. The bean bag chair will be a great relaxation place during break or silent reading time as a reward. The bouncy balls will be a great way for students to exercise and have sensory time, in a safe way, during break.
This project is so important to me because I feel that these students are not provided with enough materials in order to achieve success.
When I first came in this class, the students had only a few books to read. I have been buying several books for my students but what I have bought with my own money is not enough. I know by using this DonorsChoose program they can have the opportunity to succeed.
