This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have been charge with the incredible opportunity to work with my school's high school tract for the 2018-20 19 school year. I am eager to motivate, educate and inspire as we go on this transition and life skills journey together. I teach students with severe disabilities . Adapting and implementing life skills that will guide them when they graduate and transition to living on their own or in a group facility is my primary goal.

I'm eager to help my students prepare for the life journey ahead of them, with dedication and inspiration from all who are generous to support us.

My Project

For my high school students with special needs, acquiring and maintaining transition and life skills are essential for them to appropriately and successfully function in the community.

My classroom will not only function as an instructional area but house a fully functioning school store - that will sell snack items, coffee/tea , simple hygiene items and school spirit apparel.

The neon sign board I have requested will be used to advertise daily specials in the school store along with craft and special events happening in the room. To deliver more effective instruction when working in groups - the kidney shaped tables will provide better access to working with students. This style table will be more adaptive to teaching money management, completing a job application and interview practice.

The other side of the room will house a full kitchen, washer and dryer, bed and cleaning supplies.
