Teacher Professional Development: I need to attend the NCAGT conference, the book A Nation Deceived How Schools Hold Back America's Brightest Students, an iPad Air and case. <profdevpilot>
My students are Academically Gifted students who attend a Title 1 Elementary school. The need to have a teacher who is up to date in the newest research and activities to push gifted learners to reach their full potential.
This is my 14th year teaching.
I have spent 9 years in the general education classroom and am currently in my 5th year of teaching pullout Academically Gifted services to 3rd through 5th graders. I also serve 2nd graders in a program called Talent Development. I became interested in gifted education after participating in a grant program for developing and nurturing K-2 students.
My Project
I would love to be able to attend the North Carolina Association for the Gifted and Talented (NCAGT) Conference, however my school and district cannot afford to send me. During this conference there will be many presenters sharing the latest research and activities to help teachers inspire students to reach their full potential. I also would like to read the book called A Nation Deceived: How Schools Hold Back America's Brightest Students and be able to present to my colleagues information from the book. I will use the iPad Air with case to assist in this presentation and to take with me to the NCAGT Conference so that I am able to take notes, videos, pull up websites that are shared during presentations, and more. I will be able to take what I learn during the conference back to share with my colleagues which include the district's AG teachers and my coworkers at the school level.
Helping me to become a better AG teacher will help our best and brightest students be more successful.
I want to ensure that I am showing my students that being a life long learner means that you continue to seek out and learn new things, even after you finish school!
