Help me give my students a daily shared reading and writing experience that is interactive with an easel, literacy storage tubs, and magnetic tape for photos from our stories and of our students!
I am an ESE Pre-K teacher. I have been blessed with the opportunity to be called, "teacher." I began my first year of teaching this year and gained so many experiences that taught me what my professional and personal goals are in this field. I met my students, and I fell in love with each of them. I have gotten to know so much about them and to build a special bond.
My students are each unique, humorous, kind, curious, innovative, and thriving.
They each have different learning needs that we work on daily. I individualize my instruction to meet the needs of each student in my classroom. Their age ranges are from 3-5. Our number of students ranges from 1-9 in order to keep the appropriate ratio to enhance our students' learning and to meet their needs.
My students work hard each and every day and love coming to school. I have learned as much from them as they have from me. They bring joy into my life and thanks to them, I have found my answer to the question, "Why do you teach?"
My Project
In my classroom, I am surrounded by tiny humans who are exploring and learning all day long. I get the daily blessing of watching them grow and develop into the successful students they will be in Kindergarten! My students have many different needs and we strive to give each student an interactive experience in each lesson.
Our classroom could use a more interactive and inclusive shared reading and writing lesson experience!
The easel included in this project can be moved to students who may not be able to walk up to it, and it is magnetic and dry erase so everything can be modified as they learn and grow. We can make each part of the lesson more and more challenging as we change it throughout the year!
In August of last year, we began using a new curriculum that focuses on communication, sight words, and literacy. We do lessons that include "Shared Reading" together and hunting for the words of the week within stories, and on the communication board. We also do "Shared Writing" lessons, where students find their names and read the sentences with me to tell me what they saw in the story, what happened in the story, and maybe even what they think will happen! We also sequence stories and write a letter of the week.
The materials included in this project would go such a long way for our interactive lessons so that each child can see and engage in Shared Reading and Writing more easily! We do not have an easel currently, and having the easel would make the lesson more interactive and engaging so that we can allow students to fill in sentences with magnetic words, and they can mark their sentences with their magnetic names they will find.
