I feel the most effective when I see my students’ individual strengths and perseverance shine. I feel the most effective when a child’s excitement for learning is palpable.
The most memorable and worthwhile learning experiences rarely occur at a steel desk.
I would be so grateful to be able to provide my students with comfortable furniture to make their environment even more conducive for positive and motivating learning.
All children are movers and groovers, and supporting their physical needs is of utmost importance. Flexible seating can help focus, comfort, and motivate students.
If my project is funded, I plan to allow students to use the bean bag chairs around the room for Independent Reading. Associating independent reading as a comfortable and fun activity will help promote all students' love of literacy.
An author writes, "Studies have shown that the areas that control cognitive and motor functions overlap with each other in the brain, which suggests that it might become easier for people to concentrate when they are doing something physical" (Quora).
The desk bands will be ideal for students who tap their feet to focus while they are seated.
Lap trays will be a wonderful tool for small group work on the Reading Carpet, or around the room. The students will love a mobile desk that will also keep their supplies organized.
The stools will replace metal chairs for students who learn best on a non-traditional type of seat.
