Sometimes color is all it takes to draw you into a great story and imagine a fabulous, new experience. Most of us take color TV for granted these days, but in our class, we still live in the days of black and white! Life can be richer and more beautiful, help my students see life in color!
Our school has a population that is challenged economically and socially.
My classroom is often the happiest, most stable part of my student's lives. Our teachers work hard to provide all we can for kids who need clothes, backpacks, even weekly food bags. Many of my students are foster children, or have been moved around from apartment to motel to government housing with a single parent who is just trying to keep a minimum wage job to support 3 or 4 kids. I have an inclusion class, which allows kids with special needs to learn along with their grade level peers. This is wonderful for all children, but also means that having more hands-on, fun, engaging ways to grasp knowledge is more important than ever. They are all unique, lovable first graders, with an incredible joy of learning and absolute desire and willingness to work for a feeling of success and knowing they can do it!
My Project
Imagine how bright and vivid the pictures will be to my students when they write and publish their own books using this printer! They will be motivated to take ownership in learning to read and write with color and imagination! My students work hard to gain the literacy skills needed for life success. The ability to write, print, create in color will amaze and inspire them, and the pleasure on their faces at printing in color will inspire me! This printer along with the toner cartridges will allow them to write and print creative stories, animal and state reports, memory books, and Mother's Day books. They will love authoring in color!!
Students with sheltered, limited life experiences need extra enrichment to be able to really see and believe what life has to offer.
To be able to write and see their creations come to life in vivid, realistic color will boost their creativity, imagination, and higher level thinking. The brilliance that we nurture early on will only increase their success in later grades and in life.
