A classroom should be a vibrant place, full of words and images that help students learn. My classroom is full of pictures and posters created by our whole class that help us understand the world around us.
My students are passionate learners.
Fifth grade is an age when children begin to really understand the world around them, and our classroom is a place to process these new discoveries.
Like all 5th graders (and all people), my students retain learning longer when color materials are used. Color images can also increase attention and engagement, as well as pride in student work!
My Project
We need a color printer in our classroom so students can create and print their work, to share with other students and with family. Technology is a very important part of elementary education, and when students can print out their impressive work, they feel ownership and pride that can't be beat. This will help students create a variety of presentations and increase interest in a variety of subjects. Imagine, 5th graders creating full-color brochures on the American Revolution!
My students not only need this printer for projects but for other hands-on activities as well.
So many of the activities we use are electronic and need to be printed. These activities are so much more engaging when they look appealing to the kids. Having them in color will increase engagement and, thus, learning!
