My Project

I have a wonderful opportunity to teach, grow, and learn with my students in 1st grade. They are eager to come to school where they are provided with security, love, and support along with instruction to help them reach their potential. Each year I begin with 24 new students ready to learn. Throughout the first few months I get to know each of these students and come to better understand each of them and their circumstances.

Some of my students come from poor socioeconomic areas in our community and need more support from the school system.

The items listed will help me provide them with some of the essentials they need to be successful in their year in 1st grade. Oftentimes these students will come to school and need to eat, wash themselves up, and brush their teeth. I would love to help them feel confident in being ready for the day through the use of these essentials. Please help me provide quick and easy breakfasts for those students that are food insecure at home. There are many times that students have difficulty focusing and learning simply because they are hungry. Please also help me provide certain clothing items to those students whose families have trouble securing multiple clothing items for each child in their care. Some of my students come to school needing a change of clothes and to wash up. Providing these students with a washcloth, toothbrush, and toothpaste is sometimes necessary so they feel ready for the day. Students that smell or wear the same clothes every day have difficulty focusing due to lack of confidence in themselves. If I can provide them with these necessities to help them focus, gain confidence, and perform better in school I would love to do that for them.
