My Students

My students are a group of fourth grade students who are highly motivated when they know they are cared about.

The school is 100% economically disadvantaged and most of our students rely on the meals and snacks they receive at school because oftentimes, it is all they consume that day.

Many of my students come to school after facing many obstacles in their home lives. Many families are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey and are in need of essential items.

These problems often find their way into the classroom. Some are homeless, some live in shelters, others are latchkey​ kids with no adult home for several hours after they arrive home or they are responsible for taking care of their younger siblings while their parents are working.

My Project

The items in this project will help students on and off campus. Many families were effected by Hurricane Harvey and are still in the process of trying to get back to normalcy. I am requesting a microwave so students can have warm meals when choosing snacks from the pantry. The coats, jackets and hats will be given to students who do not have warm clothing. The cookies, crackers and juice will be used as take home snacks and snacks students can consume during the school day. The personal items like feminine items and deodorant will be used for care packages when students need them.
