Help me give my students Insect Lore Live Cup of 10 Caterpillars to Butterflies, Insect Lore Ladybug Larvae Live Refill, and Sunflower Seed Starter Kit.
My students are eager pre-kindergarteners and this classroom is their first school experience. They are part of a Title I school with the majority qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Most are English language learners with Spanish being their home language.
Children today learn in many different ways and as teachers, we must discover these ways.
"If a child cannot learn in the way we teach, we must teach in a way the child can learn." The best way to do this is with hands-on activities.
My budget has been cut by over half and I want to be able to provide the same experiences that most little ones get to experience in preschool. Due to lack of funding, it is very hard to be able to provide my students with these materials.
Early intervention and the more opportunities we provide for these children, the better students they become and the earlier they will develop a love for learning.
My Project
This hands-on project allows young students to see that everything needs food and water to survive. Students will be able to observe Larva turn into Ladybugs, Caterpillars turn into Butterflies, and Seeds turn into Flowers.
When you use hands-on activities, students are engaged in meaningful experiences.
This project is a fun engaging science unit where students will learn about the needs of both plants and animals. By observing both plants and butterflies/ladybugs, students then compare and contrast the needs of the different organisms. The students will be able to learn and identify the different stages and learn what they need to survive.
