Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have wonderful students who are having a difficult time believing in themselves. Many of my students are extremely bright. As their reading and writing and social studies teacher, I want them to understand how important reading and writing play an active role in their lives.

Many of my students do not own books at home.

I would love to have a variety of books that my students can read. I want them to know that they can truly be doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, etc. Reading will allow them to increase their vocabulary and learn about so many things.

My students love to learn a new vocabulary word every single day and I have told them about the benefits of using a collegiate dictionary and a thesaurus.

My Project

Students will be able to benefit from the Bluford series to improve their fluency, comprehension and confidence. Most of my students have stories very similar to students in the Bluford Series

Multiple students have told me, "Do you really think I could be a great person and change the whole world"?

I tell them absolutely "YES". I have students that believe the only way a person is successful is if they are playing a sport. I want them to understand that you can be successful as an author, editor, educator, entrepreneur. Whatever dream they have for themselves I want them to know they can achieve with hard work and effort.
