My students are great students. Many of them live in poverty. Their parents are often supportive but tend to lack the financial means to help with fundraisers that typically buy extra things for the school. My students work hard, each day, to be the best that they can be. They are like little sponges who absorb every piece of knowledge that is provided to them. This makes them some of the best students that I have ever encountered. They have very promising futures ahead of them!
My Project
I have several students who have repeated issues with lice and unfortunately spread the infestation to their classmates. Many times, the reason the infestation continues is because the parents are unable to purchase the lice prevention and treatment kits to treat the lice in the home. My hope is that these kits will help alleviate the lice issues that we have in the classrooms and decrease the financial burden that lice places on families in my school.
Issues with lice keeps my students out of school, prevents them from meeting their academic goals, and prevents them from reaching their full potential.
