My students need Spanish language books to help them develop reading and writing skills in the Spanish Language. These books will help them be able to read among different genres, levels, and writing styles.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first class, EVER, will be a group of thirty-seven AMAZING second grade students! They are a part of the Dual Language Immersion program at my school. What this is, for those who don't know, is half of their day is in English while the other half is in Spanish! They are fully immersed in two classrooms with TWO different languages with a hope that they become proficient in Speaking & Listening, Reading and Writing!
My students range in reading levels and are capable of reading and writing in both languages!
They are dedicated and motivated students that challenge themselves in both classes equally. My students also come from various backgrounds and local neighborhoods, so some have a diverse amount of exposure at home to both or one language.
My Project
I'm requesting a variety of books including El Deafo, The Very Hunger Caterpiller, Mounstruo rosa, Matilda, Mi Camita, El Gato ensombrerado, La luz de Lucia, Me llamo María Isabel, and Charlie y la fábrica de chocolate.
These books will be a fantastic support in the classroom!
The classroom library is going to be a place where my students can go to explore the world, cultures, creativity, and gain knowledge and understanding. They will also be building their skills to read and write in a foreign language at the same time.
By donating to my cause, you will be helping build the Spanish vocabulary of my students, advance their thinking, and improve their reading and writing skills.
At my school, in second grade, our last twenty minutes of the day is D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) time. I will be using these books to help read aloud to my students or have them read to themselves and use them as part of our curriculum through instruction. I want my students to read books that are different from what they see so that way they can know that creativity can be shown through numerous amounts of ways. Additionally, I also want my students to bring these books to their house to help their families be apart of their learning.
