My Students

Our school is a team building, welcoming place for students, families, staff and community members. Our diverse student population is made up of 76.5% from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, 25% are English learners, and more than 96% are students of color.

My 21 students consistently demonstrate perseverance and come to school ready to learn and grow their minds as a community.

They are consistently challenged to think in two different languages in all subjects. This has given them the opportunity to push their limits with positive encouragement along the way.

My students diligently work in a Spanish Dual Immersion class. They amaze me, as well as, all those that come across their work in and out of the classroom. They constantly work towards achieving many goals in both languages, and I am very proud to help guide them along the way. They are challenged by thinking outside the box and reminded that they are risk-takers in order to reach their goals.

My Project

These books will enhance our classroom library by helping the volume of books we need. My students love to read chapter book sets and follow their favorite characters as they develop through new adventures. The number of choices of books available to students plays a major roll in their interest in reading, which in turn affects their volume of reading.

With these new chapter and picture books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will help to peak their interest in reading.

This peak of interest will, in turn, help my students raise their reading volume which will then help to develop their reading levels. The best way to improve reading levels is to raise their reading volume. My students have a great interest in reading and these set of books will continue to spark excitement of literacy.
