My students need a variety ELL books in the media center to support our growing ELL population. These books are all library binding books to support numerous checkouts.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The students at Woodhill are eager learners and desire to have more opportunities for critical thinking skills to be successful learners in the 21st Century. The students at Woodhill are in a living in low socioeconomic area in Gastonia, NC and are receiving 100% free breakfast and lunch through a federal program. The students are motivated at school by their teachers and are most are not being motivated in the home environment.

The students need as many opportunities at school to develop and learn problem solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills; in order to be productive in our 21st Century world.

My Project

These resources will support ELL students' language skills with English to Spanish translations. Students will check out these books, which will be placed in a specific section of the media center. These books can be used in the classroom in their book baskets during reader's workshop.

These titles will help parents to read with their children at home.

Students will be able to use vivid pictures, glossaries, and indexes to help support their growing language skills.

Most of my Spanish speaking students have been asking for soccer books and more books geared toward their interests. These titles will support a variety of interests and our ever growing ELL population.
